The NEW Jiggs Whigham pBone brings a fun and intriguing twist to the traditional trombone. With its plastic construction, this lightweight instrument sounds remarkably like typical brass trombones.
Our Trombonist, Achilles and our Tuba player Chuck Daellenbach gave this trombone a try at this summer's Conn-Selmer Institute (click the product video tab above) and both thought the pBone was amazing, lightweight and easy to play. This horn has a fiberglass slide with brass stockings and as such are different than anything else around. They don't need to be lubricated but some have posted suggestions online that various things have worked well for them. The slides can be a bit sticky but improve as the instrument is used. This instrument sounds remarkably like a standard trombone. There again are many favorable reviews online from people that have had some time with this instrument. It has a .500 bore but makes a great sound and takes a standard tenor mouthpiece. Gig bag and plastic mouthpiece are included. Shipments to some countries may require an additional charge due to the size of the box which will be discussed before shipping.
To maintain your instrument's finish, never clean with hot water, chemical agents or harsh detergents or solvents. Use only lukewarm water for cleaning purposes. The colored parts can be cleaned with a soft cloth. The glass fibre outer slides may be cleaned with warm soapy water and then lightly dressed with vegetable oil to restore the look of the surface.
Any minor damage to the coloured plastic may be mended with superglue.
