Brass Ensemble Sheet Music
Over a 50 year career, Canadian Brass has developed an incredible array of brass ensemble music. The varied Canadian Brass repertoire features brass ensemble standards as well as a wide-ranging library of original arrangements. These include the works of Renaissance and Baroque masters, Classical works, marches, holiday favorites, ragtime, Dixieland, Latin, jazz, big band, Broadway and Christian music as well as popular songs and standards. Having started with a very limited base of brass quintet music, Canadian Brass has created their own musical world by transcribing, arranging and commissioning more than 600 works, including critically acclaimed compositions from Michael Kamen, Luther Henderson, Bramwell Tovey, Don Gillis and more. They have transformed a previously neglected group of instruments with a limited repertoire into a versatile and vital ensemble that can play everything from Gabrieli to Gershwin! Canadian Brass is especially noted for their famous Holiday Concerts at Christmas time and was at the forefront of re-establishing Scott Joplin with today’s audiences through their research, arrangements and recordings of his “rags” and other works. In the 1980's Canadian Brass published a series of graded quintet collections by Walter Barnes. This series has sold well over half a million books to date and is titled The Canadian Brass Book of Beginning Quintets, Easy Quintets, Favorite Quintets (Intermediate) and Advanced Quintets respectively and continues to be very popular.
In addition to brass quintet sheet music, Canadian Brass has also published music for double and triple quintet, including some with optional percussion. The Brass has performed with the principal brass sections of the New York Philharmonic, Boston Symphony, Berlin Symphony and many others world class brass players in live performances and on recordings. Much of this brass ensemble repertoire is available for purchase.
